Why is visiting a cake website so special? Our wedding cake was A.MA.ZING! So amazing that guests still talk about the cake 8 1/2 years after they ate it! {My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it!} If we talk about our wedding with friends who attended, the cake is always mentioned. A.MA.ZING!
Bella e Dolce is located Cheboygan, Michigan and specializes in creating cakes for weddings that take place on Mackinac Island. J and I were married on Mackinac Island in 2002 and we had met Kim from Bella e Dolce at bridal shows we attended on the Island. {We created custom invitations for Mackinac Island Weddings back then.}
Each year we looked forward to tasting Kim's samples at the Island's bridal show. The first year we participated, J tasted so many different cakes, frostings and ganaches that he made himself sick! Kim's cakes are the most delicious sweets I have every tasted and there was no question who would make our wedding cake--Bella e Dolce!
During my sister's trek through Bella e Dolce's website, she ran across a picture of a very familiar cake. It was our wedding cake! We never knew that it was one of Kim's featured cakes. Our cake was unique for a few reasons...are you dying to see it yet? Alright, I won't keep you in suspense any longer....
{drooling....}
Back in 2002, very few people had ever seen a chocolate wedding cake. Actually, it was more than just chocolate...the top and bottom layers were chocolate cake with chocolate raspberry ganache and the middle layer was hazelnut cake with chocolate praline ganache. {Yum!} J and I designed the cake for our Autumn wedding on the Island and our wedding colors were Chocolate and Cranberry. I love the chocolate curls that remind me of twigs! {By the way, the bottom was surrounded by flowers but they didn't make it in this picture.}
If you're ever in Michigan and need an A.MA.ZING! cake, walk run to Bella e Dolce!
Thanks for the sweet reminder, Dort!
{Great! Now I want chocolate cake...why do I torture myself?!}
